Live Streaming FAQ

Practical answers for match owners and camera operators—from choosing a phone and internet connection to heat, quality, interruptions, privacy, and reporting unsafe content.

Camera & phone

Do I need a professional camera?

No. A recent iPhone or Android phone with a good rear camera is enough for most local matches. A tripod, stable power source, shade, and clean lens usually improve the stream more than buying an expensive camera.

Which phone is best to use as the camera?

Use the newest reliable phone you have with strong sustained performance, good thermal management, a healthy battery, and stable Wi-Fi/5G. For long matches, newer flagship devices generally hold high resolution and frame rate more consistently than older or entry-level phones.

Should I use the owner phone or another phone as the camera?

For the smoothest scoring experience, use another workspace member's phone as the camera when possible. The owner can then score without moving the camera or putting extra video-encoding load on the scoring device.

Will my phone get hot while live streaming?

Yes, some warming is normal. Live streaming uses the camera, video encoder, network radio, screen and CPU/GPU continuously. Heat is stronger at 1080p/60fps, in direct sunlight, while charging, or on weak mobile signal. Excess heat can make iOS or Android reduce performance and quality.

How do I reduce phone heating?

Keep the phone in shade, remove a thick case if safe, avoid direct sun, use a tripod, close unnecessary apps, keep airflow around the phone, and use Auto quality. Do not place the phone on ice or use condensation-producing cooling.

Can I charge the phone while streaming?

Yes, and for long matches it is recommended. Use a reputable charger/power bank and keep the phone ventilated. Fast charging plus high-resolution streaming can create extra heat, so a cooler shaded position matters.

Should I use the front or rear camera?

The rear main camera usually gives better detail, focus and low-light quality. Mount the phone securely and frame the pitch before going live.

Internet, quality & reliability

What internet speed do I need?

Upload stability matters more than the headline download speed. Leave comfortable headroom above the bitrate used by the selected quality. A connection that repeatedly drops or changes towers can buffer even when a speed test briefly looks fast.

Should I select Auto or manual quality?

Auto is recommended. It can reduce video quality when the connection or device cannot sustain the highest setting, helping the stream continue instead of repeatedly buffering or disconnecting.

Why can Auto show 720p instead of 1080p?

Auto evaluates sustained conditions, not only your speed-test result. Upload stability, packet loss, latency, device temperature, encoder load and the receiving platform can cause a lower profile to be selected.

Is Wi-Fi always better than 5G?

No. Use whichever connection is more stable at the ground. Crowded public Wi-Fi can be worse than strong 5G, while a well-positioned private Wi-Fi connection can be more consistent than a changing mobile signal.

Why is there a delay between the ground and viewers?

Live video must be encoded, uploaded, relayed, processed and buffered by the viewing platform. YouTube, Facebook, HLS players and network conditions may add different amounts of latency.

Can a live stream stop even with fast internet?

Yes. A stream can be interrupted by brief packet loss, route changes, mobile handover, server/CDN issues, third-party platform problems, overheating, battery restrictions, camera/microphone interruptions, app backgrounding, or operating-system behavior.

How can I make an important match more reliable?

Test at the venue first, start with Auto, keep the camera phone powered and shaded, avoid moving between networks, have a backup hotspot/network, monitor the live destination on another device, and keep a local/secondary recording when the match is important.

Live passes, minutes & interruptions

If my stream is interrupted, will I automatically get a refund?

No automatic refund is promised for interruptions caused by internet conditions, devices, third-party platforms, or temporary technical issues. Purchases remain subject to applicable law and Apple/Google refund rules. If you believe server-side usage was recorded incorrectly, contact support with the match/live details so it can be reviewed.

Why are live minutes measured by the server?

Server-side accounting keeps usage consistent across owner and camera devices and reduces errors caused by app restarts, device clock changes, or switching phones.

Does buying a pass guarantee 1080p/60fps?

No. A pass provides the applicable streaming entitlement. Actual quality depends on the phone, encoder, network, destination platform and current service conditions.

Privacy, permissions & community safety

Do I need permission to stream players and spectators?

You are responsible for obtaining any consent or venue/league permission required by local law and rules, especially when minors are involved. Avoid filming private areas or people who should not be recorded.

Can I play copyrighted music during the stream?

Only if you have the necessary rights or the platform permits it. YouTube, Facebook and other platforms may mute, block, demonetize or end streams that contain protected audio or video.

What content is not allowed?

Illegal, exploitative, sexually explicit, hateful, threatening, harassing, privacy-invasive, deceptive, or rights-infringing content is prohibited. Content that exploits or endangers children is strictly prohibited.

How do I report a live stream?

Use the Report option in the Cric Scorer Pro live viewer or the Report Live button on supported public live pages. Choose the closest reason and add useful details. Reports are reviewed for safety and Terms violations.

What does “Hide / block this broadcaster” do?

Where available, it hides that broadcaster or source on your device/account so you do not keep seeing it. Reporting is separate: use Report when content may violate the rules.

Can Cric Scorer Pro remove or stop a live stream?

Yes. We may restrict, remove or suspend content or live access when reasonably necessary to enforce our Terms, respond to valid reports, protect users, comply with platform rules, or meet legal obligations.

For urgent safety concerns: report the content in the app when possible and email support@cricscorer.net. If someone is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency service.
